Let's have a Google Wave giveaway!

Update: Some of you have not shared your email address with your comments. Please remember to do so, or there won't be a way to nominate you for a Wave invite!

As a sign of appreciation for following me on Twitter, Facebook, Friendfeed and my blog, I want to invite as many of you as I can to Google Wave. As you know, nominations are extremely limited. As much as I would like to give everyone an invitation, I don't have a limited supply of invitations.

So let's make this fun:

In the comments of this post, tell me how you plan to use Wave. Discuss what you hope Google Wave will help you, your organization, your family or your team accomplish.

I will nominate 5 of the top commenters to Wave.
The number of winners will likely increase along my number of invitations - so don't be disappointed if five or more people have commented.

A few ground rules:

1. Provide an e-mail address - either in the comments or email me

2. No spammers

3.The giveaway will end at noon on Friday.

4.Winners will be announced Friday evening

That's it! Let's get started:

World domination, of course! Seriously, as a founding member of Flathead Valley Geocachers, I'd like to be able to connect all of our members to share ideas, photos, be able to share images for pathtags and geocoins, organize events and get help finding and hiding caches. On a personal level, since I live so far away from most of my family, I think google wave would be a great way to communicate with each other and share info, talk and whatnot in ways we can't on Facebook or email. :D

Hi Maso. In the comments, describe how you would use Google Wave.

I do local government communications work and would LOVE to experiment with it for future use as a communications avenue in an emergency. Less critically, I'd enjoy and appreciate using it to help citizens become more involved and engaged in local government. Thanks for the opportunity!

SKS - Thanks for sharing. Don't forget to provide an email address. You can post it here or email it to me.

As a professional journalist and a sometime coder, I see Google Wave as an excellent platform to collaborate on news stories, share sources, develop timelines - overall, it would allow all us content creators to begin down the road of adding more value to what we produce.

As an undergraduate biochemistry student looking for a career in medicine, I plan on using google wave to continue a variety of projects i am working on currently that involve collaborating with doctors and lawyers across the country in order to improve patient treatment options. the flexibility that google wave offers would no doubt allow faster collaboration over distance, in the end helping more people sooner.

We use Gtalk all the time at work to allow for communication with coworkers while we are tied up on the phone, however, there isn't a good way to group chat with the client. I'd like to test this out myself, and see if there is a good fit to use this departmentally. I don't have an invite, so there isn't anyway to get familiar with the ins and outs of the service before its rollout. Thanks!!

Folks - please remember to provide an email address. Otherwise, I can't send you the invite and won't be able to track down finalists!

I would love to have an invite! I believe Google wave is the ultimate experience in communication and will become an asset to many once released. Being a communication major, i would love the opportunity to be one of the beta testers and help iron out the kinks.

If I receive an invite I promise to give prompt and thorough feedback when requested without hesitation. I hope you will allow me the chance to experience this first hand...thanks!

I work for the local TV station here on Norfolk Island, TVNI. I think it'd be great for me to get in contact with my co-workers to approve media to put on the telly and organize what we are up to as we don't work in the same building. We both have busy schedules so it needs to be quick and instant and cheaper than a phone call.

Thanks for the contest. I can be contacted at thomas dot huxley90 at gee mail dot com

I am a current computer science student at Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia. I would love to have a Google Wave account for many different reason. I would mostly like to use it to communicate with my computer science classmates instantaneously. The idea of sharing, developing, and debugging Java/C code would be so much easier if we were to communicate through Google Wave. I would also like to keep in touch with family at a faster pace. My family is very technology savvy and would like to chat with more ease. Thank you so much for your consideration and this opportunity!

My email is sean.staley@gmail.com.

I am an instructional designer in a vocational college (ITE) in Singapore. I would like to explore Googlewave for our integrated learning application that combines library readings/search, blogs, video annotations and community of practice for both students and lecturers. Since all our 10 campuses are distributed at different parts of the country, Googlewave would be a fantastic platform to connect us real time.

Dear Michael,

Thanks for hosting this contest. My email is perry.zheng@gmail.com. I am a senior at Duke University majoring in computer science and mathematics. I worked in the computer science department over the software as a research intern. My acquaintance with Google wave dated all the back - I was at work one day and I saw the video on Google Wave. I spent the rest of day mesmerizing how much it'd change the world. I would like to be part of the excitement and help make it one of the truly social networks of our time!

Thanks!

Google has been the life line for our non-profit trekking organization, Chennai Trekking Club (www.chennaitrekkers.org). Most of our online activity and infrastructure is Google based. So, as Google waves its Wave, we are impatiently waiting for new surprises, new ways to communicate. May be Google can take our organization to showcase how Google Wave touches the lives of people united by the same passion for trekking and nature.

Hi there!
Would love a google wave invite. I am currently a masters student in Design Ethnography at the University of Dundee, Scotland. Check out our website. We study people and their interactions with anything designed, so google wave would of course be of much interest to us! We already collaborate remotely with each other and other stakeholders (via google docs and etherpad, etc), but waving would take it to a new level!
Pretty please! with a cherry on top. :)

I work as a renaissance help desk guy in our organization, tackling everything from paper jams to configuring our group policies. Working in the tech field, I am often either assisting friends and family with their various issues or looking to previous acquaintances for help with certain issues. I see google wave as an excellent new form of communication that will allow for me to collaborate with groups of coworkers and acquaintances on various project and/or issues I am working on in real time, the ability to add other friends or family into previous waves when they are having similar problems, and an overall extremely interesting experience that I am excited to get my hands on and try out. Thank you very much for your consideration!

Google Wave is the most advanced and cool way of messaging. It's so much more fun to chat, socialize and discuss things with friend online like it's never been before. I thing Gwave is a great way to communicate. Think about it, everybody wants it, because it's great. That's why i want it too. I believe you don't want a long comment, because there's a lot of them so i'll end it up here. It's up to you man! I'm just tired of no luck in these giveaways, i really hope this time i will succeed. best regards.
